Last Tuesday, 5 December 2023, the Manila City Council passed two resolutions commemorating milestones in the country’s diplomatic relations with Norway and the Czech Republic, as well as Manila’s sister-city relationship with the City of Prague.
Following the inauguration of a new building in Sta. Cruz, Manila, Station 3 of the Manila Police District will have its own parking lot, with the City Council’s passage last Thursday, 30 November 2023, of an ordinance withdrawing a nearby 186-square meter land from public use.

Manila Third District Councilor Johanna Maureen “Apple” Nieto-Rodriguez introduced a draft ordinance that would exempt solo professional practitioners in the city from paying business permit fees, as long as they had paid the appropriate professional tax and their office was not engaged in any other form of business activity.
At a regular session held last Thursday, 16 November 2023, the City Council of Manila adopted two resolutions accrediting the Samar G Tuazon Tricycle Operators and Drivers’ Association (SGT TODA), Inc. and the Associates of Urban Poor, Inc. (AUPI) as a people’s organization and non-governmental organization, respectively. Both organizations are based in Manila and registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
In line with this year’s observance of World Diabetes Day, with the theme: “Access to Diabetes Care”, the City Council of Manila, passed on Tuesday, 14 November 2023, a resolution for the prevention and management of the disease.
The risky practice of hanging onto the rear of fully loaded jeeps, known in the vernacular as ‘sabit’, could now be a thing of the past in Manila, with the passage of City Ordinance 9003 or the “Bawal Sabit on Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) Ordinance”.
