The City Council congratulated the City Government of Manila on bagging the grand prize in the Public Sector Housing Solution category at the 9th Asia-Pacific Housing Forum which took place last October 26-27, 2023 in Suwon, Republic of Korea.
In a resolution introduced by Second District Councilor Ruben “Doc J” F. Buenaventura, the Council cited the numerous housing projects started by former Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno”, especially those located in Tondo, which continue to be pursued by the current city government, earning it the prestigious award.
The Asia-Pacific Housing Forum is a biennial conference organised by the Habitat for Humanity. It aims to bring together stakeholders engaged in finding inclusive and innovative solutions for shelter issues and in promoting affordable housing as a driver of economic growth, says its official website (https://www.aphousingforum.org/).
Since its inaugural conference in 2007, it has attracted over 12,000 participants consisting of business leaders, policymakers, academics, urban planners, architects, property developers, nongovernmental organizations, and other actors involved in providing decent housing to deserving families.
