At a regular session held last 20 June, 2023, the City Council of Manila, headed by its presiding officer, Vice Mayor John Marvin “Yul Servo” Nieto, adopted a series of resolutions recognizing accomplished fashion designers, declaring them “Adopted Sons of Manila”, and homegrown stage performers who brought honor to the city.

The City Council of Manila passed an amendatory ordinance last Thursday, 15 June 2023, exempting cinemas in Manila from paying amusement taxes for the screening of official entries to the new Manila Film Festival (MFF). Authored by Third District Councilor Ernesto “Jong” C. Isip, Jr., the ordinance aims to lower ticket prices for the films to be shown and promote the Festival slated for 15 to 24 June.

With a passing rate of 100%, the City Council of Manila, at a regular session held on on 13 June 2023, commended the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) for its performance in the recent Nursing Licensure Exam (NLE). The overall national passing rate for the said examination is only 74.94%.
