The inaugural session of the 12th City Council of Manila took place in the Council’s session hall last 4 July 2022, with all elected city government officials in attendance.
Newly elected Vice Mayor John Marvin “Yul Servo” Nieto delivered his inaugural speech, while new Mayor Maria Sheilah “Honey” Lacuna-Pangan gave her very first State of the City Address, highlighting the importance of having a truthful, transparent and responsive city government.
They encouraged all departments and offices attached to the city government to give their best in serving the public.
They pledged to continue providing educational assistance to students of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila and Universidad de Manila. Senior citizen transactions will also be prioritized and streamlined in order to provide the best “stress-free” services to the elderly.
Employees can expect assistance from the human resources department in harnessing their potentials and maximizing opportunities for their growth. Peace and order and public health services will be strengthened further, in order to make the city a wholesome, safe, and an even more lively and vibrant place to live in.
In the ensuing discussion, the 12th City Council adopted its internal rules of procedure, with amendments to become effective on 7 July 2023. The Council’s committee chairmanships and other officers were chosen among the Council’s members, while each Councilor’s committee memberships were also settled.
