Manila Bags Tourism Awards

The Manila City Council adopted Tuesday, 10 October 2023, a resolution congratulating the city government of Manila, after the city bagged various awards at the recently concluded Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines – Department of Tourism (ATOP-DOT) Pearl Awards.

This year’s edition of the Awards was held in Malay, Aklan on 5 October 2023, with the City of Manila winning the following:

  • Best Tourism Religious Practice (for the Translacion);
  • Best Brochure for Tourism Promotion (for “Timeless Treasures: Discover the Manila Clock Tower Museum”);
  • First runner-up for Best Tourism Month/Week Celebration (with the theme “Tourism Reboot: Creating Opportunities for Manila.”); and
  • Second runner up for Best Video Tourism Promotions (for “Anak ng Maynila”) 

In addition, Manila was chosen as a finalist for the Best Tourism Oriented-LGU, with its campaign entitled “Maynila, Dalhin Mo ang Bandila” .

The City of Manila, the heart of the Philippines, continues to make proud strides in promoting its rich history, culture and traditions, under the commendable leadership of Mayor Maria Sheilah “Honey” Lacuna-Pangan, Vice Mayor John Marvin “Yul Servo” Nieto, and (Department of Tourism, Culture and Arts of Manila) Director Charlie Dungo”, said the resolution introduced by Second District Councilor Numero “Uno” Lim.  

The ATOP-DOT Pearl Awards is held annually to honor individuals, organizations, and local government units for their notable tourism campaigns and promotions. The same is organized by the Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines, which brings together local tourism officers from all over the country.
