The 12th City Council unanimously passed a resolution Thursday, 20 July 2023, commending the Legit Status Dance Crew for continuously representing the Philippines in hip-hop dance competitions and promoting arts in the country.
Since its founding in 2009, the group has represented the Philippines in the annual World Hip-Hop Dance Championship, winning silver in the competition’s Varsity Division in 2015 and bronze in the Megacrew Division in 2017 and 2019.
“The impact generated by Legit Status in their triumphs has carved a niche in the hip-hop community and shall continue to inspire the youth”, said the resolution introduced by Third District Councilor Timothy Oliver “Tol” Zarcal, who was himself a member of the dance group.
Meanwhile, at the same session, the City Council likewise passed a resolution congratulating Keizen Jay C. Ongsiaco and Kurt Jazz G. Sabino, from the First and Second Districts of Manila, respectively, on winning various medals and awards, including two golds, in the International Mathematical Olympiad and International Science Olympiad held in Hong Kong, Thailand, and Guangdong Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area. Both medalists recently graduated with the highest honors from the Francisco Benitez Elementary School in Tondo.
The resolution was authored by Councilors Ruben “Doctor J” Buenaventura and Niño Dela Cruz of the Second and First Districts, respectively.
