Manila City Library Lauded

The City Council of Manila passed a resolution Thursday, 10 August 2023, lauding the Manila City Library for vast improvements in its services, earning various recognitions in the process. At the recently concluded Gawad Pampublikong Aklatan of the National Library of the Philippines, the 75-year old library was named recipient of the following awards:

Best PREXC (Program Expenditure Classification) Activity for Digital Literacy for the successful project implementation of teaching one hundred eleven (11) women senior citizens during the Women’s Day Celebration last March 9, 2023;
Ikatlong patimpalak, Non-Professional Category; and
Career and Self-Development Award

Authored by Councilor Macario “Macky” M. Lacson of the 2nd District, the resolution was swiftly approved by the Council without objection from any member. The Manila City Library is one of eleven public libraries in the city equipped with the latest technology in the digital world. The public can use the facility for free, pursuant to Mayor Maria Sheilah “Honey” Lacuna-Pangan’s policy of providing easy access to social services of the city government.
