At its 101st regular session held last Tuesday, 12 December 2023, the 12th City Council of Manila commended, in two separate resolutions, the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) for its exemplary showing in the recent licensure exams for physical therapists and teachers.
The Council congratulated the school on ranking first overall—the fourth time in eight years—in the December 2023 Physical Therapy Licensure Exams, with a passing rate of 98.23% vis-à-vis the national rate of 68.37%. It also lauded the school’s performance in the September 2023 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers, where PLM scored 85.71% and 78.26% for the elementary and secondary levels, respectively, versus the national passing rates of 47.01% and 56.27%.
The twin resolutions were jointly authored by Councilors Pamela “Fa” Fugoso-Pascual of the Third District and Joel “JTV” Villanueva of the Fourth.
Meanwhile, in a third resolution likewise authored by the two Councilors, along with Majority Floor Leader Ernesto “Jong” Isip Jr., the City Council applauded students from the school’s College of Architecture and Urban Planning for ranking second in the A+D Architectural Documentary Festival 2023 held last 7 December 2023.
A project of the United Architects of the Philippines Sentro ng Arkitekturang Filipino, this year’s festival had the theme, “Legacy of the Past: Modern Architecture in Historical Context”. PLM’s entry titled “Ang Kape mula sa Aljibe” featured the Papakape, a coffee shop located inside Fort Santiago in Intramuros.
PLM is a chartered and city-funded university that provides free education to deserving students.
