The Manila City Council held a two-day sports festival at the San Andres Sports Complex, not only to show the physical prowess of the participants in various games but also in line with the 122nd Founding Anniversary of the City Council.
The sports fest was initiated by the Council Secretariat in collaboration with the Office of the Vice Mayor John Marvin “Yul Servo” Nieto wherein all of the city councilors and staff were invited and participated in the said event.
The sports fest includes Filipino popular games like patintero, tug-of-war, dama, agawang panyo, sack race, and exhibition games of volleyball and basketball.
“It was our goal to let the people see how enjoyable our Laro ng Lahi were to be played. Aside from building camaraderie and cooperation, this sports fest showed that the city employees are not just for office work, pero pang-Sports din sila”, VM Nieto said when asked about the inspiration for having this event.
